Sami Whitcomb

Whitcomb will undergo an arthroscopy Thursday to remove a loose body in her left knee. She will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks, Shane Young of the Mercury's official site reports.

This is a tough blow for Whitcomb and the Mercury, as she will now miss the first month or so of the WNBA season. Whitcomb served as a part-time starter during her first season in Phoenix last year, averaging 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 23.9 minutes per game across 43 regular-season appearances (20 starts). Kiana Williams could see an uptick in minutes with this news.
